Healing Arts Web Design

Elizabeth Linton Case Study

Project Background

What Healing Arts Web Did

I created a website, identity, business cards, and marketing materials that represents Elizabeth’s style as a teacher and in individual. The website uses WordPress as a flexible CMS that allows her to manage her entire site — from photo galleries to upcoming events to a blog.

Client Needs

As a yoga teacher who travels a lot, Elizabeth needed an easy way to keep her website updated. Having an easy way to manage her upcoming events was a priority for her, as well as a blog to share her travels with friends, family, and students. She also wanted an expansive, beautiful design that would represent her and the style of yoga that she teaches.

Web Design

Custom WordPress Development

I created a custom WordPress theme for this project that takes advantage of some new WordPress 3.0 features using standards based code. The theme also uses CSS3 to create a lightweight, easy to edit framework for improvements later on.

Event Management

WordPress also handles an event calendar that is easy to use for managing one-time events and recurring classes. She only has to log in to one place in order to manage her events, blog, and all of the content on her site.

Print Design

Brand Consistency

Custom designed business cards and flyers that match her website gave Elizabeth the professional appearance she was looking for. I work with a printer directly to have materials shipped to my clients so they don’t have to worry about technical specs or tracking orders. It was important for Elizabeth to have business cards that were as professional as her website to make a good first impression.

Smart Marketing

Even Elizabeth’s event flyers are easy to update using common software like Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat. All she has to do is send the template to the person managing her workshop. If changes to the source files need to be made, I always have client source files on hand and edits can be easily made.

Final Thoughts

It was a great experience working on this project with Elizabeth and being able to work with print and web design. I hope you’ll view the finished website at ElizabethLinton.com.

What the Client Said

David looked at my needs as a traveling yoga teacher, listened to my desires and concerns, and worked with me to create a beautiful logo and a website that exactly suits my needs and my vision. Making changes to the site is so simple that I can update it myself, even having no prior experience with web maintenance or blogging. I feel like the site captures the essence of what teaching yoga means to me; it is playful and creative, yet elegant and functional. Overall, working with David and Healing Arts Web Design was a positive experience for me.
